The Art of Doing Business with a Sri Lankan who has no Money
The Art of Doing Business with a Sri Lankan who has no Money lol (Company or Individual)
Oh the good school ways of Sri Lankan businessmen and women is something to watch. Here are is the complexity of their abilities in doing business, negotiating and eventually not having the money to buy :
The scene:
Multinational (MNC) Seller at an exhibition or visiting a Sri Lanka customer (SLC). Sri Lanka customer wants to buy MNC's product. MNC is top 50 products in the world.
SLC - hello, we are from Sri Lanka
MNC - oh Sri Lanka
MNC - how is Sri Lanka doing now
SLC - oh excellent we are now ok and back very strong now very good
MNC - oh thats good to hear, what can I do for you?
SLC - we are looking for [product described]
MNC - yes we can, [goes to show the product, explains it, shows video, possibly in house demonstration]
SLC - thank you thank you, you know we are the biggest in Sri Lanka and we export a lot (never mentions how big they are)
Note: Sri Lanka is a bankrupt country and have been for over 50 years, its more so now, their GDP is -80 billion USD.
MNC - [gets turned on by the lying confidence of the Sri Lankan].
SLC - we would like to buy, can we try 1 and then if all ok we will take 5 more [they never take 5 more, they can barely afford the 5, watch what happens]
MNC - excellent, ill get an invoice for you.
SLC - no no, first give me a quotation, ill run it by my boss.
MNC - [now is confused, I think he just said he wants to buy]. So, I will get you quotation soon.
days laters, quote is sent. Email sent to SLC by MNC.
MNC - " dear sir, I see you have received my quote, shall we go ahead and finalise this ?"
SNC - no response
another few days later
MNC - " dear sir, I see you have received my quote, shall we go ahead and finalise this ?"
SNC - no response
another few days later
SNC - "Dear MNC, sorry could not get back to you, I was busy, I will ask my get back to you very fast"
MNC - "oh no problem, thanks"
No response from SNC at all, Ghosts the MNC.
This happens 1000's of time with SLC's, what they do is the following :
- they approach MNC's with a big story, boasting about who they are or what they do.
- they get the quote and they dont look if its fits their budget, meaning they dont have budget EVER in their hand to negotiate.
- they take the budget and they take that to a bank (not their company), to a bank to see if they can gather a line of credit from a bank, IF the bak approves, then they do the most cunning this off all....
- ....they gather other quotes from China and India and Taiwan and compare them, Approach the MNC. MNC cannot match the low prices. Therefore, the SLC will either scrap the project altogether or purchase from a Chinese or Indian.
Basically they come to the table with no money and ask for a hand me down. If they cant get it they dont work hard to make that money they simply live in their bubble and go from one company to another. This is one of MANY MANY reasons why they do not progress in the business world in that country, THEY ARE THE ONLY ONES delusional to think they do.
lol...good schools....lol big businesses.....lol
